Stefano Zamagni

Stefano Zamagni ( born January 4, 1943 in Rimini ) is an Italian economist.

Life

Zamagni studied at the Catholic University of Milan. From 1966 to 1969 he was a lecturer ibid. From 1973 to 1979 he was a full professor at the University of Parma. Since 1979 he has been Professor of Economics at the University of Bologna. From 1985 to 1993 he was Director of the Department of Economics, 1993-1996 Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Bologna.

From 1985 to 2007 he held a permanent visiting professor at the Bocconi University. Since 1983, the adjunct professor at the Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University. He was Visiting Professor of Economics at Deakin University.

He is married to Vera Negri since 1968 and has two daughters.

Work

Pope Francis ordered him on November 9, 2013 as an ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Milan, the Academy of Sciences of Bologna and the Academy of Sciences of Modena, as well as a Fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences, New York. He is a member of the Pontifical Foundation Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice ( CAPP ).

He was from 1989 to 1999 Executive member of the International Economic Association and 1999-2007 President of the NGO International Catholic Migration Committee ( ICMC ), Geneva. He is a member of the " Human Development and Capability Association," Harvard University. He is since 2007 President of the Agenzia per le Onlus, the Italian Commission for the non-profit sector and NGOs.

Stefano Zamagni has published numerous works. Member of the scientific committee of the various economic journals and reviews.

For his scientific work and commitment he has won several awards, such as the McDonnell Distinguished Scholar in Helsinki (1992 ), Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International (1995 ), St. Vincent Economics Prize of the Aosta Valley Regional Government ( 1989), Capri Economics Prize of Association of the Development of Social Sciences (1996 ), Golden Sigismondo Prize of the city of Rimini ( 1997), Gold medal of the International Centre Pio Manzu (1998), honorary citizen of the Argentine cities of Rosario and Mar del Plata, Gold Medal of the Italian savings Banks ( 2005).

In 2007 he was beatified by Benedict XVI. appointed a Knight of the Gregoriusorden.
