Geographical Location

Steffen Berg is located in the southern foothills of the Rothaargebirge between cities Dillenburg (20 km) and Marburg (35 km). The altitude is about 330 to 550 meters above sea level. NN.

Neighboring communities

Steffensberg borders in the north on the community Breidenbach, in the east on the community Dautphetal, to the south by the municipalities of Bad Endbach and Angelburg (all in the district of Marburg -Biedenkopf ), and in the west on the community of Eschenburg (Lahn -Dill -Kreis).

History

Incorporations

On April 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Niedereisenhausen, Obereisenhausen, Niederhörlen and Oberhörlen joined together voluntarily to the community Steffensberg. The name was chosen after the highest point in the municipality.

On July 1, 1974 came by state law, the previously independent municipalities Steinperf and Quotshausen added to the new local authority area.

Coat of arms

Blazon: In the golden ( yellow ) sign over a blue wave bar a border black bear.

This coat of arms is the name of the municipality by flowing Perf is symbolized, as much as the Bears Water ( Old High German: pernaffa ) means.
