Steg-Hohtenn is a municipality in the district of West Raron the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

History

Steg-Hohtenn was created on 1 January 2009 from the merger of the two communities and web Hohtenn. The fusion is based on a decision of the voting citizens of both communities on 16 December 2007.

Geography

Steg-Hohtenn is located in the German-speaking part of the canton and consists of the village communities dock, about 1300 inhabitants, and Hohtenn, about 250 inhabitants. The community is an important location for trade and industry in the Upper Valais.

The village lies at the southern end of the valley web Lötschental, bordered to the west jetty on the river Lonza, which also marks the county line and the border of the village Gampel. The village Hohtenn lies on a terrace at the eastern end of the valley of the Lötschental around 150 meters above the Rhone Valley, above bridge.
