Stegna

Stegna ( German: Steegen ) is a town with about 2,000 inhabitants on the Bay of Gdansk in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship. Stegna is the main town of the same rural community of approximately 9,500 residents.

Geography

Stegna is located approximately 30 km east of Gdansk and about 10 km north of the county town of Nowy Dwór Gdański along Route 501 from Gdansk via Krynica Morska to Piaski ( Neukrug ).

Attractions

Stegna has a 13 km long beach on the Baltic Sea. Visitors will find numerous guest houses, hotels and campsites. Each year a competition is held in the Amber Search in Stegna.

Worth seeing is the local half-timbered church, before 1945 Protestant and Catholic parish church of the Sacred Heart since 1945 from 1682 /83 its distinctive needle helmet.

Next to the church there are some wooden cottages from the 17th and 18th centuries.

In the neighborhood of the town there is Sztutowo with the former concentration camp Stutthof.
