Ștei

Ştei (Hungarian Vaskohsziklás ) is a small town in Bihor County, in western Romania. It is located fifty miles from the county town of Oradea. In close proximity to the town are the small towns Vascau ( seven kilometers ) and Nucet (ten miles away).

Ştei as a city was founded in 1956 next to a small village of the same name, as in the nearby village of Baita temporarily large quantities of uranium ore were promoted.

The town was from 1958 to 1990 the name of Dr. Petru Groza, named after the politician Petru Groza.
