The Steinberg is one to 300.3 m above sea level. NN high ridge of Lower Saxony's mountain country in the districts of Minden wood and Hildesheim in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Steinberg is located in the western part of the line mountain country, a northern part of Lower Saxony's mountain country. It extends to about 2.8 km in length in the triangle of the towns Alfeld, Freden and Delligsen. It lies between Gerzen in the north, and Föhrste Wispenstein in the east, in the southeast Imsen, Delligsen the south and the somewhat distant Grünenplan in the northwest.

Northwest of the Steinberg is the Reuberg, each side of the line north of the Seven Mountains and east of the bag forest, southeast of soda and southwest and west of the Hils. The Valley of Wispe, a southwestern line inflow, leads into the soda.

To the east and southeast of the B 3 leads past the Steinberg.

Geology and landscape

The Steinberg is an unfolding of limestone. On his part, are its steep slopes and ridge itself, usually hidden in the forest, limestone cliffs, such as the " Kippnäse " in the southeast. Hiking

A few forest roads and paths lead through the Steinberg, among others, can be found on a hiking trail below the ridge in northwest-southeast direction through the ridge. Northwest leads in the transition region between the Reuberg Grünenplan and Gerzen the European long-distance hiking E11 over.
