Steingrímur J. Sigfússon

Steingrímur Jóhann Sigfússon (* August 4, 1955 in Gunnarsstadir, Þistilfjörður ) is a member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi and from 1999 to 2013 Chairman of the Party Left-Green Movement.

Life

Steingrímur Jóhann Sigfússon 1983 first elected to the Althing. In the years 1988 to 1991 he was minister for agriculture and transport. Since the founding of the Green Party Left-Green Movement in 1999, he was its chairman.

Since 1 February 2009, he was Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture as well as Minister of Finance in the interim government of Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir ( Government Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir I).

After the parliamentary elections in April 2009, he was 10 May 2009 Minister of Finance in the government Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir II in 2011, he joined the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, where he served both as an industry and trade minister as well as Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture. In the cabinet Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson these ministerial posts were occupied on May 23, 2013 two people; Steingrímurs successor as Minister of Commerce and Industry is Ragnheiður E. Árnadóttir while officiating as Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, and at the same time as Environment Minister Sigurdur Ingi Jóhannsson.
