Geography

Geographical Location

Horst Stein is on the Lachte between the natural parks of South Heath and Drömling. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Hankensbuettel, which has its headquarters in the town of Hankensbuettel.

Based in part on the territory of the municipality Horst Stein is the 1090 hectare nature reserve Upper Laughed Kainbach, Jafelbach.

Neighboring communities

The municipality of Horst Stein is bordered to the north by the municipality Sprakensehl, in the east on the community Dedelstorf, in the south on the community of Great Oesingen and to the west the district of Celle.

History

In 1668 it came to the forest rights with neighboring villages Bargfeld and Eldingen bloody confrontations (the " War Pigs ").

On February 18, 1895, the inaugural meeting of the volunteer fire department was in the house Wilhelm Hasselmann (now Marktstr. 17) instead of the 33 Steinhorster citizens were published. As a first captain of the royal forester Behneke and his deputy wheelwright master Dedekind was elected.

The artillery Landwehrmann Wilhelm Buhr, born on 16 January 1886 in Horst Stein, wrote loud second book of Chronicles School for the school to Helmerkamp, parish Beedenbostel, inspection Beedenbostel on July 3, 1915 on his experiences in the First World War. He returned, decorated with the Iron Cross, home on December 19, 1918.

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Lüsche and Räderloh were incorporated.

Mayor

The honorary mayor Wilhelm Hasselmann was elected on 9 September 2001. After the last election period, he is still in office.

Coat of arms

The Coat of Arms description is: by a silver wave bar in green and red 2:1 split, quoted above with a silver pretty sighted horse's head, accompanied by a spike and an oak leaf with acorn, both golden, bottom covered with a horizontally bisected black mill wheel.

The upper part indicates the Agriculture and Forestry of the place; the wavy separation line symbolizes the Heath river laughed. The lower part of the coat of arms shows a waterwheel and represents the Steinhorster mill.
