Stellan Rye

Stellan Rye ( born July 4, 1880 in Randers, Denmark, † November 14, 1914 in France ) was a screenwriter and film director.

Life

After a military career Rye began playing the theater in Copenhagen. For the film, he came as a screenwriter. Through his screenplay for the film Det Blaa Blod ( The blue blood) (1912 ), he was discovered by Hanns Heinz Ewers and brought to Berlin.

In Berlin, he turned as a director in 1913 after screenplays Ewers of the film The Student of Prague, one of the first artistic area of ​​German films, and 1914 Evinrude. Rye worked in his films with leading German artists. So played under his direction Paul Wegener and Ernst Lubitsch, the camera often led Guido Seeber and screenplays often caused Hanns Heinz Ewers.
