Stemflow

As stemflow is known in hydrology the proportion of precipitation, which is derived from the treetops to the trunk. Doing, the water flows along the stem at the bottom.

Along with the crown passage, the so-called Through case the precipitate obtained under a forest stand, also called throughfall. This is lower than the component, as it is reduced by interception.

Stem outflows are great at glattrindigen trees, eg beech and hornbeam in raurindigen contrast, very low, eg in pine and oak, with some conifers ( spruce, larch) even completely negligible.

In contrast to the crown passage of stemflow is very difficult to measure.
