Comparability for German study programs

Dutch and German bachelor's and master's degree programs at colleges and universities are in accordance with the International Standard Classification of Education programs ISCED, as they include the OECD used at their annual international comparative study " Education at a Glance " for Tertiary type A education (ISCED 5A). This means that the bachelor's degree programs of Stenden Hogeschool must be with German higher education programs in the same field of study qualitatively similar.

Since the Bachelor-Master structure, the quality of study programs is ensured through mandatory accreditation for a person entrusted with this task by the state organization. The Netherlands was a pioneer in the manufacture of transparency and comparability of quality criteria in Europe. Austrian, Swiss and Norwegian accreditation organizations recognize the accreditations of the Dutch-Flemish NVAO since December 2007 automatically.

Germany, however, has reservations about the scientific quality of Hogescholen in the Netherlands, which do not meet the requirements of the German higher education acts as teach at the hogescholen no professors and no requirement is to achieve a minimum rate of doctorate holders. In Germany, all colleges must have at least 50 percent of professors. In Germany, the Bachelor degree from a University of Applied Sciences is the equivalent of a university, the accreditation conditions are identical, a "Bachelor of Arts ", etc. at a University of Applied Sciences is a scientific degree at the university level, not, however, in the Netherlands, where this deal to hogescholen except in checked exception cases may not be awarded. Against this background, the Standing Conference has decided on 31 May 2012 that even holders of Bachelor degrees a Dutch Hogeschool direct access to higher education is open for about a master's degree in Germany. The KMK decision restricts this, however, a: "The universities and certificate recognition sites may refrain from issuing an economy based on the university degree university access authorization when there is sufficient scientific character of the training is not questionable or recognizable available in a particular case. "

German and Dutch universities of applied sciences have nevertheless concluded cooperation agreements that involve the exchange of students. The performance records that are provided to the partner university will be recognized here. Stenden Hogeschool had until January 14, 2011 eleven cooperation with German universities with student exchange. For example, exist for the tourism sector, where most Germans are found in Leeuwarden, cooperation with universities in Munich, Kempten and Zittau / Görlitz.
