Stephana de Quinzanis

Stephana Quinzani (* September 7, 1457 in Orzinuovi at Brescia; † January 2, 1530 in Soncino in Cremona ) was an Terziarin in the Dominican Inne north. She was beatified on 14 December 1740 by Pope Benedict XIV. Your feast is on January 2nd.

Life and work

Stephana Quinzani was the daughter of a peasant family and came with 15 years of the Dominican Terziarinnen in Crema at. 1485 she founded a monastery in Soncino of the Third Order of St. Dominic, which she ran. She endured 40 years through spiritual desolation, as Ekkart Sauser writes in the Biographic- bibliographic church encyclopedia. 40 years passed they 've lived without devotion and plagued by doubts. She was at this time but also in caring for the poor. It was reported that she wore the stigmata of Christ.

Pope Benedict XIV confirmed on December 14, 1740 their worship was beatified. Their relics were in 1988 transferred back from Colorno by Soncino and have since been kept in the church of San Giacomo.
