Stéphane Henchoz

Stéphane Henchoz ( born September 7, 1974 in Billens ) is a former Swiss football player and current coach.

Henchoz played at the position of central defender. He is one of the few Swiss footballer who could prevail at a top European club. At Liverpool he made 2000-2004, together with the Finnish Sami Hyypia 's central defense. After a short visit to Scotland Celtic FC he played for the 2005/2006 season in the English Premier League with Wigan Athletic, before joining Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2006. There, however, he came in the period from two years to just twelve league games and had to deal mainly with injuries. As a result, the club's management set him free on 19 May 2008. In October 2008 Henchoz then ended his career.

He ran 72 times for the Swiss national football team and played in the European Championships in 1996 and 2004. During the qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2006, he was no longer considered. 2001 and 2002 was elected Henchoz abroad at the best Swiss footballer.

At the beginning of the season 2009/10 Stéphane Henchoz was engaged as coach of the Swiss first division club FC Bulle.
