The star stone is 1125 m above sea level. A. high mountain north of the town of Bad Leonfelden in Upper Austria, near the Czech border. Geologically, it is part of the Bohemian Massif and is the easternmost point of the Bohemian Forest.

A chair of Swoboda opens up the mountain with its two runways. In Winter 4 km of ski slopes are groomed. From the winter 2009/10 the chair is replaced by a combination of rope and chair lift and the ski area expanded to a third runway.
