Steve de Shazer

Steve de Shazer ( born June 25, 1940 in Milwaukee, † 11 September 2005 Vienna ) was an American psychotherapist and author.

Life

Steve de Shazer had training in classical music and played professionally as a jazz saxophonist. At the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters degree in social work.

Together with his wife Insoo Kim Berg developed Steve de Shazer a solution focused brief therapy within the systemic therapy based on the work of Milton Erickson, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Jacques Derrida. In 1978, the couple in the Milwaukee Letter Family Therapy Center ( BFTC ), which was closed in 2007.

In John Weakland, with the de Shazer was a friend, he saw his mentor.
