Steve Jackson (UK game designer)

Steve Jackson ( born 1951 in Manchester, United Kingdom) is one of the founders of the game publisher Games Workshop. Together with Ian Livingstone he has brought, among other things, the pen -and- paper role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons to Europe, the interactive book ( game guide) invented and developed the game Warhammer.

Both authors were looking for a way to the role playing game Dungeons and Dragons to a wider audience. Dungeons and Dragons has a very complex set of rules and sets a whole group of players forward. Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson published in 1981 as a result of their efforts, the first interactive book: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain ( German Title: The Warlock of flaming mountain ), which later also as a board game Warlocks in publishing Schmidt Spiele appeared. The success was so great that a whole series of it was: The Fighting Fantasy series. The books have sold over 15 million copies worldwide.
