Steve Peat

Steve Peat ( born June 17, 1974 in Chapeltown, South Yorkshire ) is a British professional mountain biker, who in the discipline Downhill is particularly successful.

Life

At the age of three years, Steve Peat began with cycling. Before he went into the mountain bike scene, he rode BMX. After school, he drove the first race at the age of 19 years. His career as a mountain biker Steve Peat began alongside Rob Warner with the Saracen team before he moved to Team MBUK. After a change from GT Bicycles team to Team Orange between 2002 and 2005 was followed in 2006 in exchange for Santa Cruz Syndicate team, driving in the since 2008, inter alia, Josh Bryceland and Greg Minnaar.

Peat is threefold UCI Downhill World Cup overall champion ( 2002, 2004 and 2006). According to date 17 World Cup victories, seven British, two European championship titles and three silver medals at the World Mountain Bike Championships Downhill he was 6 September 2009 for the first time world champion in this discipline.

He was appointed in November 2008 an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University. Peat comes from Sheffield - titled his achievements in the sport as well as contributions to local charity actions in Sheffield were appreciated. Peat is married and has two sons.
