Steven Caulker

Steven Roy Caulker (born 29 December 1991 in Feltham, London ) is an English footballer who since the 2013/14 season for the English Premier League club Cardiff City runs. In the youth department of the Tottenham Hotspur trained, was the central defender from 2009 to 2012 on loan at various clubs under the contract, whereby he made his debut in the Premier League for Swansea City at the beginning of the 2011/12 season.

He also went through both the U- 19 and U -21 national team of his country. In 2012 he represented Britain at the Summer Olympics in London and was first nominated for the national team of England, before he gave in November for those his debut.

Career

Tottenham Hotspur

Caulker, who visited the Lampton School in his district, played in his youth for the local club Hounslow Borough, but was also a talented athlete who in consequence district champion of the 400 meters sprint distance was four years. Through the influence of his former coach, he decided to push his football career. It was he who ordered Caulker in central defense at the age of 15 years from central midfield. After only a single game on this position Caulker received from several clubs, including Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur, a contract offer for their respective youth academies. The central defender opted for the Spurs, and has been used as a 16- year-old in the U-18 of the Association. In the 2008 /09 season he was with 31 inserts for regular players of the team and led it as captain. At the same time he came to the first missions in the second team, the Tottenham Reserves. Following that season, he signed his first professional contract with the Spurs.

To give the young defender game practice, he was subsequently awarded directly to the third division side Yeovil Town. The initially set at three months loan contract was extended in November 2009 to the end of the season. Caulker convinced from the beginning in Yeovil and missed from 45 league games only a result of the U-19 European Championship. At the end of the loan period he received four out of five internal association awards season. After he returned from the European Championships Caulker signed a new contract at Spurs and came on 21 September 2010 the 1:4 defeat in the League Cup against Arsenal on his pro debut.

Only five days later, a lending transaction with Bristol City until the end of the season. In Bristol, he was also able to establish himself as a regular player and was named in November the same year, the Football League Young Player of the Month. After 29 missions with two goals scored Caulker fell out due to a cartilage injury in the knee for the rest of the season in March 2011. For his achievements in the Bristol defender was praised. In summer 2011, underwent Caulker an already planned for longer than ankle surgery. In July he was again awarded; the Premier League newly promoted Swansea City signed him up to the end of the season. In summer 2012, the defender signed a contract until 2016 with the Spurs. In the first season, which he spent at the first team, Caulker came directly to your first wager; in the Europa League against Lazio and in the Premier League against Queens Park Rangers. 2-0 home win over Aston Villa, he scored his first goal for the club.

Cardiff City

On July 31, 2013 Cardiff City announced the commitment Caulkers. He signed a four-year contract until 30 June 2017 and was with a detachment of nine million pounds of the record obligation of the Association of the Welsh capital.

National

Caulker is because his grandmother is from Scotland, eligible to play for both teams, so he in a competitive match of the national team has the option up to his debut.

For the U-19 national team of England Caulker contested matches in the qualifying and the 2010 European Championships in France itself England sat down in the group stage in second through failed in the semifinals, however, to Spain. Caulker was not nominated because of his age for the U -19.

His debut for the U- 21, he was in a friendly against Germany. Further deployments in test matches followed, before the knee injury in March 2011 prevented participation in the U-21 European Championships in Denmark. During the qualification for the European Championship 2013 in Israel Caulker scored his first goal at international level, in a 4-0 win over Belgium.

In July 2012, Stuart Pearce announced that Caulker stand in the line-up for the Summer Olympics in London. At the Olympic Games, he was used in all five games before one failed in the quarter-finals on penalties to South Korea. Following the Olympic Games Caulker was first nominated in August 2012 for the senior national team, came in the game against Italy but not used, so coach Fabio Capello's goal to tie Caulker to the English team, initially failed.

His debut for the Three Lions finally gave Caulker in November 2012 against Sweden. At the opening game of the new Friends Arena in Stockholm in the 4-2 defeat to the home side a goal he achieved directly.

Trivia

During his time in Swansea Caulker was arrested in November 2011 as a result of public tranquility, and sentenced to a fine.
