Steven F. Udvar-Házy

Steven Ferencz Udvar- Hazy ( b. 1946 in Budapest) is the founder and was CEO of International Lease Finance Corporation ( ILFC ).

Life

Steven F. Udvar- Hazy was born in 1946 in Budapest and fled after the Hungarian uprising in 1956 on Sweden to the USA. He studied at the University of California and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts / Science degree in economics and international relations from.

As early as 1966 Udvar- Hazy founded with the " Airlines Systems Research Consultants " a consultant for airlines. In 1973 he founded, together with Leslie and Louis Gonda the "Inter Lease Group Inc.", which went public in 1983. In 1990 the company was sold to the American International Group and now operates as " ILFC ".

Udvar- Hazy sits on the board of SkyWest Airlines and several foundations and institutions. In 1990 he was honored by the Dixie State College of Utah with an honorary doctorate. In February 2010 he left the ILFC and founded his new company Air Lease Corp.. ( ALC). He is listed by Forbes Magazine in 2010 as a billionaire.

In the American public, he has become known primarily for a donation of 65 million U.S. dollars to the Smithsonian Institution for the expansion of the National Air and Space Museum. At this time, in 1999, this was the largest donation from a single person to the said Institute.

Udvar- Hazy has been married since 1980 and has four children.
