Sthaviravāda

Sthaviravāda ( Sanskrit) is an early form of Buddhism respectively. Precursor of the Theravāda school.

The Sthaviravāda is a conservative, emerged from a schism over the perfection of the Arhat direction of the Sangha. In dealing with the Mahasanghikas formed about 280 the Vatsiputriyas and about 40 years later, the Sarvastivadins split off BC. A later name of the trailer is Vibhajvavādins.
