Courageous neck Bock

The Brave neck block ( Stictoleptura cordigera ) is a species of beetle in the family of longhorn beetles ( Cerambycidae ). It belongs to the subfamily of the narrow blocks ( Lepturinae ).

Description

The beetles are 14 to 20 millimeters long. The eyes are emarginate to probe steering towards. The pronotum is bell-shaped and constricted significantly at the front edge. The elytra are punctured almost uniform and wearing a yellowish, only slightly protruding, short and loose hair. Your drawing can be no confusion. You are a deep red color and wear in the center a heart-shaped or triangular black spot, to the end of the elytra run its rear tip in a black seam. The elytra tips and the body as well as the triangular scutellum between the wing-coverts are black.

Occurrence

The beetles are widely distributed in the Mediterranean to the Southern Alps. From southern Germany are numerous older finds, recent findings are lacking.

Way of life

The larvae develop in decaying hardwood. The finished beetle is usually found on flowers, mainly Umbelliferae.
