Stimmhorn

Stimmhorn was a Swiss band. Your style could be described as experimental ethnic music or imaginary folklore.

The band was founded in 1996 by Balthasar Streiff and Christian Zehnder. The band's name referred to the band's music, which consisted mainly of the voice of Christian Zehnder and various horn sounds by Balthasar Streiff. The instrumentation and technique of the band was very multifaceted. Christian Zehnder dominated next to " normal " singing and overtone singing, yodelling and playing the instruments Wippkordeon, bandoneon, bandurria, organ pipes, slope and others. Balthasar Streiff plays, besides singing, the Alphorn instruments, double Alphorn, Alpofon ( developed by him self instrument), Büchel, Cornet, Baroque trumpet, zinc, tuba and goat horn.

In addition, the duo worked increasingly with guest musicians, such as the Obertongesangsgruppe Huun Huur - Tu from Tuva or Tomek Kolczynski ( kold electronics ) on their last album Igloo and in the production of Faust II

The duo also appeared (next Noldi Alder and Erika Stucky ) in the film Heimatklänge by Stefan Schwietert (D, CH, A, 2007 ), in the Christian Zehnder talks about his artistic roots: I've always hated yodeling.

Zehnder and Streiff occurred in November 2009 for the last time as a duo " Stimmhorn " on.
