The Stolické Hills ( German about: Stolica Mountains ) is a 600 km ² part Mountains and the highest part of the Slovak Ore Mountains in the center of Slovakia and thus part of the Inner Western Carpathians. It borders the Veporské Hills in the north, Muránska Planina to the northeast, Volovské Hills in the far east and Revúcka pahorkatina in the south. All of these are also part of the Slovak Ore Mountains. West of the Stolické Hills lie the highlands Krupinská planina, the valley and the mountains Zvolenska kotlina Polana. The highest elevation is the Stolica ( 1476 m nm), which is also the highest point of the Slovak Ore Mountains.

The mountain is divided into four smaller geomorphological bases:

  • Stolica
  • Tŕstie
  • Klenovské Hills
  • Málinské Hills

Thanks to the rich natural resources in the Middle Ages arose in the field some mining settlements or small towns like mine Kokava nad Rimavicou. Are dense forests, mainly spruce, further down the valley, beech, oak and hornbeam on the higher ridges. Major rivers are the headwaters of the Slaná in the east, Muráň in the center and Rimava in the West.
