Stonefest

The Stone Festival (formerly called Stone Day) is a music festival in the Australian capital Canberra. It is the end of October ( in the Australian spring ) on the grounds of the University of Canberra. It is the largest music festival in the city and is one of the most popular in the country.

The former name of the festival dates back to the foundation stone of the university by Prime Minister John Gorton on 28 October 1968. Exactly four years later then the Stone Day (stone - day) was held for the first time. By 1976, the various festivities had (of which the music festival only forms a part ) to be extended over a week, which is why they were called Stone Week. In the 1980s and 1990s, the student initially transformed into a fun event for all. In 2000, the renamed Stone was hard.

In addition to numerous local and successful in Australia bands performed in recent years internationally known formations such as The Von Bondies, Groove Armada, Electric Six and The Living End.
