Storforsen

Storforsens is the name of big rapids on the Pite River in the province of Norrbotten County in northern Sweden. They are located about 38 km north- west of the town Älvsbyn.

At a height of 60 meters, an average of 250 cubic meters of water per second roll downhill, making it the biggest rapids of Scandinavia. The total length of the rapids from start to finish is 5 km, where they overcome this has a height difference of 82 m. During the midsummer weeks the water level is at its highest, which then flow approximately 870 cubic meters of water per second into the valley.

The area of the rapids is a nature reserve that is well connected by paths and boardwalks. The Nature Reserve is also a woodsman Museum.
