Stöttwang

Stöttwang is a municipality in the Swabian district Ostallgaeu 7 km east of Kaufbeuren and is a member of the administrative community Westendorf.

Stöttwang includes next to the biggest and name giver district Stöttwang the districts Reichenbach, Gennachhausen, Thalhofen, Linden along the Gennach.

Shaping the townscape is the rococo church of St. Gordian and St. Epimachus in the district Stöttwang.

History

Stöttwang belonged to the Free Imperial City of Kaufbeuren. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in the Kingdom of Bavaria was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

On April 1, 1971, it came in the course of municipal reform on the voluntary merger with the earlier communities Linden, Thalhofen at the Gennach, Gennachhausen and Reichenbach to the new community Stöttwang. In 1978, this administrative community Westendorf has been assigned.
