Stradella bass system

Under the Stradella bass system is understood in the Accordion, the arrangement of the bass in fifths in the vertical direction with the most frequently used major, minor and seventh chords in a horizontal arrangement. The range is limited here to a major seventh, but, depending on design and register in the bass tones up to five octaves at the same time and at the chords sound up to three octaves simultaneously.

The Stradella bass system uses rows of buttons that are spaced according to the circle of fifths. Thus, each button ( sound ) (as interpreted tonic ) adjacent (above ) and its dominant (below ) its subdominant.

The first vertical line is the major third to the tonic ( Terzbass *), the second row of the root itself ( ground bass).

  • However, the so-called Terzbass sounds type of construction in 4 of the 12 basic bass a minor sixth lower than the basic Bass (but this corresponds harmoniously again a major third ).

In the following rows then sounded the chords: First, the major chord, the minor chord, followed by the seventh chord and the diminished seventh chord.

In the advanced game, it is common to combine with the existing material on basic notes and chords and new, not directly implemented chords; e.g.

A minor 7 = O ( a third ) bass C major chord or FM6 = fm FV7 (which decreased in Septe FV7 corresponds to a major sixth ).

Depending on the price, some rows may be not run at all or coupled with others.

Notation

The bass tone is mostly in the great octave, the chord is listed about the kids there until about f1. (Where, however, the written position of the chord can not always play an accordion with Stradella bass system ).

For ease of readability ( it would not be enough to read the three notes of the chord - as- bd, one must also know how this chord is called - b7 ), the notes additionally provided with alphabetical chord names.

The chords are listed according to the chord symbols, in small letters (written above or below the chord in the score, c = c major, cm = c minor, etc.).

The reason bass is valued in capital letters, the Terzbass in underlined capital letters.

Conventional designs

For some countries, typically are embodiments in which the dominant seventh are omitted and the quint free diminished chords are shifted by a number, which Gdim in the C series functionally and C7 can be used (without root).

Especially in France is the 3 3 system in which the thus saved chord progression by a third Grundbaßreihe was (again, in the third interval above the Terzbaß ) replaced usual.

In Russia, the dominant seventh chords are also often omitted; many instruments have only five bass and chord rows. Where this is not the case ( for example in converters ), Gdim located in the Russian system still in the C series.

Rare versions

There are also isolated variants in use, which have a slightly altered arrangement of the keys; for example, the company Soprani has brought to market in Castelfidaro models that are supposed to permeate the Marche district today. This key arrangement is sometimes referred to as the Belgian system.

A common design is a vierchörige bass side. This is divided into four choirs and 2 bass chord choruses with 12 notes from G to F sharp (including e - dis, and C - H; depending on version).

The tone holes, which bring air flow to the corresponding reeds are opened synchronously at the 4 bass choirs in the 2 chord choruses as well (For a vierchörigen bass of the C -Bass consists for example of C c c1 c2; case of a chord, which is a c contains, eg c - major, F minor, d7, AV7 the same reeds are at the required c1 and c2 activated as in C -Bass ).

Are registers available on the bass side of the accordion, various choirs can be muted.

With these 48 tones (one in the bass side vierchörigen Instruments) are in the Stradella mechanism up to 120 bass and chord buttons used ( sporadically up to 140).

  • The chord choruses are appended to each tongleichen bass choirs.
  • The major chords are formed by: root major third fifth.
  • The minor chords are formed by: root minor third fifth.
  • The seventh chords are formed by: root major third minor seventh.
  • The Diminished chords are formed by: root minor third verm Septe (equivalent to a major sixth ).
