Strategius Apion
Flavius Apion ( II ) ( † probably 577-579 ) was a high late Roman military and civil servant.
Flavius Apion came from the wealthy and influential family of Apionen from Egypt. His father was Flavius Strategius, the son of Flavius Apion I, his son, also named Flavius Apion.
Flavius Apion 539 held the prestigious consulship. 547/48, he was named Patricius and was 548-550 dux Thebaidis. During this time, military commanders of the Egyptian Thebäis were honorary awarded the title of Master of the Soldiers, but this is for Apion until the year 556 occupied. In addition to its government offices Apion one of the leading members of the landowners was highly regarded in his Egyptian homeland and also with the senators of Constantinople. With its work, the influence of Apionen reached a climax.
