Strawpoll

Strawpoll a technical term, the short opinion polls indicated on the USENET.

The resulting 1979 Usenet represents the oldest discussion platform on the Internet dar. Since using many millions of people worldwide every day, the topics of discussion in groups (called newsgroups ) are distributed, which can be read individually. The application or removal of these newsgroups is defined by relatively formal rules that specify, inter alia, polls, discussion times, etc.. A Strawpoll is particularly important in such a situation, like Taken in claim tuning concept, if there are several groups of different opinions and it's about to confirm the general acceptance of his proposal. A Strawpoll is thus an " unofficial" vote, which is not a final decision on USENET, but rather has an informative character. Besides Straw Polls there are also polls (so-called Call for Votes, short CfV ) after a request for Discussions ( short RfD ), precisely those discussions that can lead to the setting up of new or delete existing groups.
