Strøget

Strøget (Danish, The stroke ) is the name of a pedestrian zone in the center of Copenhagen, capital of Denmark. It is the oldest pedestrian zone of the country and was at the time of its opening on November 17, 1962 with a length of about 1.1 km, the longest pedestrian street in the world.

Strøget consists of several separate roads, each with its own name and begins at Copenhagen City Hall Square, and from there it leads to the pedestrian zone light turns through the city to Kongens Nytorv.

A number of shops is located here, for example Illums Bolighus, the largest department store in Scandinavia Magasin du Nord, the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory, various chain stores, dining establishments and souvenir shops.
