Bartel lots line barbel ( Striuntius lineatus )

The Bartel lots line barbel ( Striuntius lineatus ( Syn: Puntius lineatus ) ) is a freshwater fish of the family Cyprinidae. It comes on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and West Borneo (Indonesia) found in swamps and standing open water with dense vegetation and is quite common in waters with clear black water.

Features

The Bartel lots line bar has an elongated, laterally flattened body of clear yellowish-gray color with a silvery sheen. It is similar in shape and color strong line barbel ( Desmopuntius johorensis ), but has no or only a single pair of rudimentary maxillary barbels, which are much shorter than the eye diameter and a groove behind the fleshy mandibular lip ( more than 2 cm only at minimum) the distinguishes it from all other Southeast Asian barbels. The mouth is slightly inferior.

From other former Puntius assigned Southeast Asian barbels, the Bartel lots Barbe line differs by its color pattern consisting of 4 to 6 dark brown to bluish longitudinal stripes, which is present with her in contrast to line the bar at all ages. Twelve scales to count around the caudal peduncle. The first fin ray of the dorsal fin is black, the last unbranched dorsal fin ray is cut back. The lateral line is complete. The number of said porous lateral line scales is 25 to 28 in a transverse series between the dorsal fin base and the abdominal midline to count before the pelvic fins base 5/1/5 ½ ½ scales. Rows of small papillae are found on the sides of the muzzle and around the eyes. This Papillenreihen missing all other Southeast Asian barbels, with the exception of Oliotius. On the first gill arch 17 to 20 gill rakers find ( 3 to 15 in the other genera ).

System

The Bartel lots line the bar in 1904 described by the German ichthyologists Georg Duncker as Barbus lineatus, later assigned to the genus Puntius collection. In November 2013, it ordered the swiss ichthyologists Maurice Kottelat to the newly established and created for the Bartel lots line cash monotypic genus Striuntius. The genus name was ( striped =) from striatus and Puntius composed.
