Strømmens Værksted is a Norwegian wagon company and former automobile manufacturers.

Company History

The company AS Strømmens Værksted from Strømmen was founded in 1873 as a steel mill and began in 1933 with the production of automobiles, which were marketed as Strømmen. In 1936 the production of its own models was adjusted. Between 1933 and 1940 vehicles were manufactured under License from Dodge and offered under the brand name Strømmen - Dodge. 1970, the steel sector ( Strømmen Stål A / S) was cleaved. 1978 Strømmens Værksted Norsk Elektrisk & Brown Boveri ( NEBB ) adopted in 1988 was awarded to ABB, Adtranz in 1996 and 2001, Bombardier Transportation.

Motor vehicles

Between 1933 and 1936 caused large vehicles on the basis of Dodge. The vehicles with extended wheelbase offered in four-door sedan body style seven seats.

Rail vehicles

Strømmens Værksted was involved in the development and production of numerous rail vehicles of the NSB and the Oslo T-bane. Its products include the railcar Cmb14, Cmb17, 69, 71, 73, 86, 87, 88, 91 and 93, the electric locomotive El 18, the coaches B3, B5, B7, and the train of the Norwegian royal family, the subway trains T1000 and T2000 as well as the tram SL79.
