Stroke ratio

The leverage ratio is the ratio of piston to cylinder bore with a piston engine.

A distinction is made between

  • Hubern long, in which the piston stroke is greater than the cylinder bore, and
  • Hubern short, there is the cylinder diameter greater than the hub.

Are bore and stroke the same size, then one speaks of a square design (square Huber), the stroke ratio then has the value 1 are usual values between 2.5 (for low-speed marine diesel engines ) and 0.4 (for racing engines ).
