Stu Grimson

Stuart A. " Stu " Grimson ( born May 20, 1965 in Vancouver, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1982 to 2002 among others for the Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Detroit Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings and Nashville Predators played in the National Hockey League. Grimson was known throughout his career as an Enforcer.

Career

Stu Grimson began his career as a hockey player with the Regina Pats, which until 1985 he was active from 1982 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1983 in the tenth round as a total 186 players from the Detroit Red Wings. However, since they did not receive him in the next two years under contract, he could be selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round in 1985 when a total of 143 players from the Calgary Flames. First, however, the attacker played two years for the team from the University of Manitoba and Calgary's farm team from the International Hockey League, before he gave Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the 1988/89 season his debut in the National Hockey League for the Flames, where he received five penalty minutes in his only use this season.

With the Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the links Sagittarius won the Turner Cup in the season 1987/88. From 1990 to 1993 Grimson played for the Chicago Blackhawks before he was selected in the NHL Expansion Draft in 1993 by the newly formed Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. For the Mighty Ducks, he played for two years. After a little more than a year at the Detroit Red Wings of the Canadians was committed at the beginning of the season 1996 /97 by the Hartford Whalers. When these were resettled after the season, kept the renamed Carolina Hurricanes franchise his contractual rights. For the Hurricanes, he was in the 1997/98 season in all 82 games on the ice and recorded seven points scorer, including three goals. He then spent two years at his former club from Anaheim, as well as one season with the Los Angeles Kings and Nashville Predators, where he finished his career in 2002. Grimson was in the course of his career, during which he held a number of rivalries with enforcers like Darren Langdon, Georges Laraque, Krzysztof Oliwa and Bob Probert, a total of more than 2000 minutes in the penalty box. His reputation as a feared fighter earned him the nickname " The Grim Reaper".

Stu Grimson was the NHL 's Christian Fellowship before the early 1990s. After end of his career he studied law and is currently working for a law firm in Nashville.
