Stuart Franklin

Stuart Franklin ( * July 16, 1956 in London ) is a British photojournalist.

Biography

Stuart Franklin studied photography at the West Surrey College of Art and Design and a PhD in Geography at the University of Oxford. From 1980 to 1985 he worked as a correspondent for the Sygma agency in Paris. Since 1990 he is a member of Magnum Photos, which he chaired from 2006 to 2009. Since 1990, he has photographed more than twenty reports for National Geographic.

Stuart Franklin created a photographic icon, as he the 1989 massacre at Tiananmen Square, the world -famous recording made ​​in which one protester stops the series of tanks. With this photo Franklin won the third prize in the category Current coverage from the Press Photo of the Year.
