Studánka (Tachov District)

Studánka ( German Schönbrunn ) is a municipality with 402 inhabitants ( 1 January 2004) in the Czech Republic. It is located 2 km southwest of Tachov at an altitude of 611 m asl in the Upper Palatinate Forest ( Český les ).

History

The first mention of Schönbrunn is from the year 1407. Parish Church was in Tachau. From 1776 to 1850, Schönbrunn was part of the manorial Tachau. The formerly located in the village of Castle no longer exists today; it was used in the 19th century the Jewish population as a prayer house. Some sculptures by master stonemason Georg Böhm are still preserved, who lived here in the first half of the 19th century and 1853 died.

1939 counted 147 house numbers and it lived in the city, including the district Helldroth 774 people. Many houses were destroyed by the American army late May 1945, during the occupation of the site. The largely German -speaking population was expelled as a result of the Beneš decrees.
