Stummerberg

Mute is a municipality with 835 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Zillertal valley and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Zell am Ziller.

Geography

Location

Stumm is located in the middle Zillertal above Stumm, on the mountain slopes on either side of March Bach. The scattered settlement consists of the districts Gattererberg Stumm and small Stumm. The seat of the municipality is located in Stumm.

The Märzengrund extends from the mouth in the Ziller to a narrow, steep and wooded section to a wide open pasture area.

History

In a Silent Lappenbeil bronze was found, which is assigned to the middle Bronze Age. Stumm is first mentioned in a document in 1143 as Mons supra Stume when the pin Herrenchiemsee from Salzburg Archbishop Konrad I of Abensberg got half a yard. Administrative headquarters of Hofmark silent castle was silent. The farms on Stumm and Gattererberg were created as Schwaighöfe, they had to deliver in kind. Significant was the Holztrift from March reason for the smelters of the valley. 1849 were combined to community Stumm Stumm and Gattererberg.
