Definition

In a narrower sense, stupidity is the poor ability of perception to draw the appropriate conclusions or learn. This defect is due partly to ignorance of facts which are necessary to form a judgment, partly on faulty intelligence or training of the mind and also to a certain inertia and sluggishness in the uptake or the slowness in the combination of the available facts or data ( see perception, cognition). The stupidity is a fact which is still within the limits of normal cognitive abilities and can therefore be distinguished from mental retardation or nonsense.
