Sub Command

Sub Command is a submarine simulation from 2001 and successor of the Game 688 ( i) Hunter Killer, developed by Sonalysts, and published by Electronic Arts.

Gameplay

The player gets to choose from among three real existing submarine types. These are on the side of the United States Navy Los Angeles-class and Seawolf - class and on the Russian side, the submarines of the Akula class. The predecessor was 688 (I) Hunter / Killer, the sequel is called Dangerous Waters.

Apart from a collapsible, small window in which the currently selected destination is displayed, the game requires absolutely no 3D graphics. Sub command runs in real time, but can be accelerated in five steps to eight times the speed time.

The player switches between eight controllable stations. These are the command center (in this case, the speed and the price to be determined ), sonar, radar, electronic battle management command ( here can radar signatures of other ships and aircraft will be collected and load messages from a satellite), Target Motion Analysis ( here must be a player target correctly interpret before he can fire a torpedo ), torpedo room, map and periscope. The player can man all these stations themselves; However, just the sonar and TMA are simulated in great detail, so the operation is very complex (for example, the player sees on a waterfall display a line frequency of a ship ). This he must then assign via the narrowband sonar a ship class, then determine the speed of the ship on the impact rate of the screw. Optional helps a expert crew to the player during the operation.

Missions

There are three (semi- dynamic ) campaigns, each containing 14 missions, the campaign of the Seawolf exactly the same as that of the Los Angeles-class. The missions of the Russian side are often a mirror image of the U.S. Navy missions, which is to increase the replay value. The missions range from simple Eger 's enemy submarines on the recovery of a satellite to the destruction of an enemy fleet. It usually reaches only the fulfillment of a goal to progress in the campaign. The more goals you met, the easier will be the following missions.

In addition, there are single-player missions, where the player must, for example, identify and sink a particular ship, or damage and sink just as many ships in a short time.

Sub Command contains a multiplayer mode in which a plurality of U - boat captains fighting together or against each other. Here, the time acceleration is disabled.
