SubaÄius
Subačius ( German, obsolete: Subotschen ) is a city in Rajon Kupiškis, 14 km southwest of Kupiškis, on the road Daugavpils - Panevėžys ( KK122 ), on the right bank of Viešinta. Major attractions and facilities are the St Francis Church, the gymnasium Subačius, the library (since 1940) and the post office. The railway line Radviliškis - Daugavpils runs through the urban area.
History
The town has its beginnings before the first world war in the territory of the village Dvariškiai ( Rajon Kupiškis ) after the railway Radviliškis - Daugavpils in 1873 and the station was built.
From 1937 to 1939, built priest Povilas Mikalajūnas the Catholic Church at the Viešinta.
1958 Subačius received city rights. At the time an undisclosed project, which was officially called Kombinat " Gintaras " - In Soviet times, the local storage of petroleum products was built.
