Subclavian vein

The subclavian vein ( subclavian ) collects the blood from the arm and shoulder and runs as a continuation of the axillary vein between the first rib and the clavicle ( collarbone ), where it is united in the venous angle with the internal jugular vein and the external jugular vein to the left innominate.

The subclavian vein is associated with connective tissue in the region of the first rib with the surrounding structures and is thus kept open, which favors the aspiration for creating a central venous catheter.
