Subhaprasanna

Shuvaprasanna ( born October 20, 1947 in Kolkata as Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya ) is an Indian painter who lives and works in Kolkata. He attended the Indian College of Art with a degree. His works he presented at numerous solo exhibitions in Kolkata, New Delhi, Geneva, Food, Ludwigsburg, Mumbai, Dhaka, Augsburg, Paris and New York. Every year he is represented with his work at group exhibitions in India and internationally.

"His images often show stylized animals, especially birds, or humans, enigmatic images full of melancholy, hieroglyphs from a distant world, surreal dream images and real decay, scenes of earthly lostness and symbols for emergency and end time. Recently ( around 2005 ) was it surprising novel and optimistic images of the divine promise of peace, spiritual harmony motives, dreamy flute player instead of croaking crows and a series of Krishna pictures " ( Philipp Grieb ). His techniques mainly include coal, oil and acrylic.

Shuvaprasanna founded in 1976, the College of Visual Arts and in 1984 the artists' village of Arts Acre in Kolkata. He received several awards and prizes. He is married to artist Shipra Bhattacharya.
