Sublingual artery

The sublingual artery ( " hypoglossal artery ") is an artery of the head. It arises when people from the lingual artery ( artery tongue ) on the front edge of the musculus hyoglossus and pulls between mylohyoid muscle and submandibular gland forward. It supplies the gums, the submandibular gland, and the muscles of the oral cavity floor ..

In ruminants, the hypoglossal artery arises also from the tongue artery in carnivores, pigs and horses, however, from the facial artery.
