Sučany

Sučany (Hungarian Szucsány - to 1895 Szucsán ) is a town in central Slovakia. It lies in the valley at the foot of the Great Turčianska kotlina and Mala Fatra at the Waag and about 9 km east of the town of Martin.

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1258, named in 1359 as a market town with law. Since the 15th century there was a salt warehouse, from the 19th century, a tollbooth. In 1878 a brickyard was opened.
