Succotash

Succotash ( from Narragansett language: msikwatash ) is an American dish consisting primarily of lima beans and corn. Some modifications have also meat, such as bacon as an ingredient. In part, it is topped with a pastry crust.

This type of food preparation became popular during the Great Depression in the United States, comparable to the German stew. In parts of the south of the United States any preparation of vegetables with butter or lard is called Succotash.

Succotash is a traditional dish that is eaten at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
