Such A Surge
A Surge was a band from Braunschweig, elements of various styles, including metal, rap, punk rock, hardcore and jazz, united with each other in their music. This style diversity is also reflected in various side projects and collaborations with other artists. A trademark of the band was that they wrote their lyrics in German, English and French. Since 2006 A Surge is officially " put on hold ".
Band History
A Surge was formed in 1992 and is considered the veteran German crossover movement. In the initial phase A Surge mated hard hip hop with metal riffs and transported on textual level often left alternative viewpoints.
For the first time A Surge presented to a wider audience about the Hip- Hop Sampler That's Real Underground, on which were also represented, among others, No Remorze, State of Departmentz The Coolen and swine. The shortly afterwards on their own recorded EP Against the Stream / Against the Stream sold in the following without the support of a professional labels and without advertising about 10,000 times. This was the basis on which the band was offered a recording contract with Epic Records, and this after long negotiations also accepted. The production budget, it admitted that A Surge could record their first full album in the U.S. with Alex Perialas (and so on Anthrax). This was followed by tours include a partnership with Biohazard, Dog Eat Dog, Mucky Pup and Gunshot.
From the third album What special the Braunschweiger opened more and more mainstream and even appeared in 1998 in the opening act of the tour by Herbert Grönemeyer on. The 2000 released album The Surge effect became the biggest commercial success of the band. The group was the opening act of Die Toten Hosen on their do or die tour in 2004.
Your musical roots, the band approached again in 2005, when she signed a record deal with the label Nuclear Blast and the album Alpha brought out - it should be the last release of the band for the time being. Beginning of November 2005, the band released a press release in which it was said that after " 14 years, 6 albums and 600 concerts ," the band had decided to play in 2006 their 'last tour. On February 23, 2006 A Surge played their last concert in their hometown Brunswick Club Jolly Joker. As the opening band Emil Bulls and Mambo Kurt occurred. The lead singer Olli and Michel have since taken no more microphone for a Surge in hand. The future of the band is uncertain. The group commented on the setting of the common band project as follows: " Perhaps eventually comes a day when we want to say together as ' a Surge ' something again. Currently, however, we feel the need to start a new life and think that it is time to face up to now separately the new challenges of life. "
