Suchitra Sen

Suchitra Sen ( Bengali: সুচিত্রা সেন Sucitrā Sen, civil Roma Sen, born Roma Dasgupta, born April 6, 1931 in Pabna, Bengal (now Bangladesh); † January 17, 2014 in Calcutta, West Bengal ) was an Indian film actress. She was the most famous actress of Bengali entertainment film next Uttam Kumar, with whom she formed a popular movie couple over 20 years.

Life

Suchitra Sen began in 1952 in the film and had the following year in Sharey Chuattar the first appearance with Uttam Kumar. For more than 20 years both were a dream couple of the Bengali cinema for romantic melodramas like Sagarika (1956) and Saptapadi ( 1961).

One of her most notable movies is Jweley Jai Deep (1959 ) by Asit Sen. Sen plays the nurse Radha in a psychiatric hospital. Your boss psychiatrist argues that it is helpful for the patient when the staff formed a relationship with them. Contrary to their will Radha leaves a it and suffered after her patient seems to be cured, even a nervous breakdown. This film is a Hindi remake of 1969 under the name Khamoshi was shot, in which the role of the Radha Waheeda Rehman was acquired. Suchitra Sen appeared in 1963 together with Soumitra Chatterjee in Saat Pake Bandha by Ajoy Kar and won for her portrayal of the award for Best Actress at the International Film Festival in Moscow.

In Hindi film Sen played rarely. Her first role in a Bollywood film, she took over in Bimal Roy's Devdas (1955 ) on the side of Dilip Kumar. She turned with Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Raj Khosla, Dev Anand and Sanjeev Kumar, but due to slight problems with the foreign language she was never at home in the Hindi film.

In 1978, Suchitra Sen retired completely from the film business and lived by the media deposited. She died on 17 January 2014 in a hospital in Kolkata.

Her daughter Moon Moon Sen and her granddaughters Raima Sen and Riya Sen are also actresses.
