Suczki, Gołdap County

Suczki ( German Sutzken, 1933-1945 Hitler height ) is a small village in the northeast of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and is part of the Gmina Gołdap (Town Goldap ) in Gołdapski powiat ( county Goldap ).

Geographical location

Suczki is located on the northwest slope of the Szeskie Wzgórza ( Seesker height ) far from Wronki Wielkie ( United Wronken, 1938-1945 Winterberg) at the province road 650 that leads from Gołdap ( Goldap ) about Wegorzewo ( Angerburg ) to Barciany ( baleen ). Until 1945 the station was on Grabowo following the railway line from Goldap about Benkheim (now Polish: Banie Masurian ) to Angerburg ( Węgorzewo ).

Place name

The now Polish Suczki wore until 1933 the place name Sutzken, the multi occurred at that time in the province of East Prussia. And today's local name Suczki occurs in today's Warmian -Masurian on more often.

On March 9, 1933, the municipality Sutzken presented with their 95% National Socialist ( compared to 5% German national ) population the application for name change to " Hitler height". Hitler's consent took place on 12 April 1933, provided that the competent administrative authority granted their consent. This ordered the name change on 27 October 1933. After the Second World War, the city was renamed in Suczki.

History

The former Sutzken was on 18 March 1874 by 13 rural communities that the District Skötschen (1939-1945 Grönfleet, Polish today: Skocze ) formed. He belonged until 1945 to the district Goldap in the district Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia. In 1910 Sutzken counted 154 inhabitants, in 1933 there were 160 and in 1939 133

As a result of the Second World War came Sutzken aka Hitler height under Polish administration and was designated Suczki. The place where now live 42 inhabitants, is part of the Gmina Gołdap in powiat Gołdapski in the Warmia and Mazury ( 1975-1998 Suwałki Voivodeship ).

Church

Sutzken Hitler and height were predominantly Protestant population until 1945 Parish Grabowen (1938-1945 Arnswald, Polish today: Grabowo ). Goldap in church district in the province of East Prussia Church of the Church of the Old Prussian Union ' The Catholic church members were incorporated into the diocese of Warmia.
