The community Südeichsfeld is a rural municipality in the Unstrut Hainich in Thuringia. It is located in Eichsfeld Hainich Werra and has about 7000 inhabitants, making it the most populous municipality without city rights in the Free State.
Geography
The rural municipality located in the southwest of the Südeichsfeld Unstrut Hainich- circle and is characterized by a low mountain range and the valley of the Werra. The western and southern part is attributed to the Wanfrieder Werra heights, rock type is limestone, this rock has been used commercially in the concrete plant Wendehausen. History
The present municipality was in the late Middle Ages, for the most part to the Office of Mainz Bischofstein with the places Diedorf, Heyerode, Hildebrandshausen, Faulungen and Lengenfeld under the stone. The southwestern municipality to Wendehausen and Schier Schwende belonged to the dominion of the Office Treffurt, which as Ganerbschaft Treffurt to the 19th century had stock.
