Suelette Dreyfus

Suelette Dreyfus is an Australian journalist and author. She's Media Studies at the University of Melbourne. Her research interests are there among other whistleblowing, computer security and hacking.

Life and work

Suelette Dreyfus lived in the UK, the USA and Australia. She earned a BA in 1987 at New York's Barnard College, Columbia University, where she received the Teichmann Prize for Excellent and original writing, and in 1998 a Ph.D. in philosophy at Monash University. She is a member of the Royal Society of Victoria since 2001.

Dreyfus worked, among other things, as a court reporter for Australian newspapers such as The Age, the British Independent and the Australian radio program Late Night Live. Together with Julian Assange, she was involved in the late 1990s in the development of cryptography software Rubber Hose. 2001, Dreyfus co-producer of the episode Hackers of the documentary television series Frontline, which is broadcast by the American broadcasting network PBS and 2003 Australian documentary film "In the Realm of the Hackers", which describes the two Hacker " Electron " and " Phoenix " and Dreyfus ' Underground book is based.

Suelette Dreyfus distribution to the public any images that represent them identifiable. In an interview in 2011 and added the final chapter of Underground it emphasizes the role of technological possibilities for monitoring of citizens of democratic states.
